About Us

The Niche Players began in late 2006 as the brainchild of the four gentlemen whom you see on the Bios page – Justin, Jake, Josh and Chris. The idea was to create a website that would on one hand present daily doses of writing and video that would provide witty insights on everyday life, and on the other hand serve as a forum for aspiring comics – the first of which being our very own Justin Cross. Over the last year, we have grown by leaps and bounds – bringing on additional writers, undergoing a number of website enhancements, partnering with other comedic websites (College Humor, for example) and generally promoting our own unique brand of comedy. Today, we are proud to say that www.thenicheplayers.com is a well-recognized website in the online comedy arena, and we can’t wait to see where our growth takes us next.

What We Want From You

Our initial assignment for you is to come up with a story of roughly 400 words (give or take) in which you tackle any subject you’d like. Whether you’d like to discuss something general like the state of politics in America, or something specific like how you hate that your coworker keeps shooting snot rockets in your trash can, we just want to see your style. The only other requirement that we have is that it makes us laugh – or at least chuckle discreetly.

If we like what you have to offer, we will bring you on board indefinitely to contribute an average of 1 piece per week. We envision you covering a variety of news topics, but if you have a particular interest then please let us hear about it.

So that’s about it. When you are ready with your sample submission, just shoot us a line at contributors@thenicheplayers.com with the goods and we will have someone get back to you ASAP.
